Ideas, thoughts, suggestions…

I am going to need a new pair of shoes. Since I am running but not all the time do I buy walking shoes, running shoes? What kind do I buy? I don’t have tons of money so looking at shoes over a hundred bucks really isn’t in my future. Really that’s even pushing it but I don’t want problems with my feet since I have so much I want to do this summer. What are your thoughts? I wear a regular 8 so don’t need anything special.

Today got to do something I haven’t done in years. Buy 2 light fleece jackets in a size large. We went to Grand Rapids to Glen’s Army Navy store and they had a clearance on them, usually $25.00 on sale for $4.00. I used to wear at least a 2X sometimes 3X so to put these on and have them fit, well it was fun. The green one is more form fitting and Jim’s eye jumped out of his head, that was cool. The blue one is just a pull over, nothing special but both so soft.

So when you have a moment, please tell me your ideas on a shoe.

I hope you’re all have an awesome Sunday. We are. Take care and God Bless!!

You can find Asics running shoes for under $100, and they will work well for walking and running. I have one of the "Gel" models. I also have a pair of Nikes that were well over $100 and quite frankly they are no better than the others.

I always get a running shoe (the optimist) because walking shoes are more clunky and I find them akward if I finally do get up to speed. If there is a running store close by you might try asking them. We have one in our small town and I can usually get a pair for $75. I like walking in them because they are light (but I don't get the super light ones) and I can usually find good arch support.

Congrats on your jacket size. I can't wait to get out of the X sizes. I was looking through some old clothes the other day and saw some of my tiny t-shirts and couldn't believe the difference. How did I fit into those? The clothes sizes tell the story!

I always get a running shoe mostly because I feel that the cushioning is better. I go and try on different ones and then I check online to look for deals. I've paid as little as $35 for a pair of Adidas that were on sale. We also have Tanger---outlet mall---and they have Nike, Adidas and Reebok stores which sometimes beat the online price but sometimes don't.

Congrats on the jacket! How cool to have your hubby's eyes pop! LOVE IT!

I just got a pair of Nike Flywire and they are a little piece of heaven on my feet! :-) I got them at an outlet so they weren't nearly as crazy priced!! I found some online too!

Yeah on the jackets!

So far I do not have any special running shoes but use my Merrells for walking. They are great.

Do you know about the discount online store: Sierra Trading Post?? Migt find some good buys there on shoes, Julie.

Gosh, Julie. We have a store here in Denver called Runner's Roost. They check your arch, foot pressure, all kinds of stuff to help you get the right shoe so you don't risk injury. I bought walking shoes there that I was very happy with. I listened to the clerks and some hard-core runners (this is Colorado after all and it seems like everyone here runs but me)talk about how you should NEVER wear your running shoes to walk and vice versa. They said runners should only wear their shoes for running and remove them after their run. Same with walkers. According to them many injuries occur when you wear the shoes for reasons other than the reason they were designed for. Obviously at Runner's Roost they want to sell shoes, but I trust that the customers in the store who were offering their opinions and agreed with the clerks may have been talking from more experience than I have. I don't know if this helps, but I thought I'd share.
And huge congratulations on fitting into smaller tops now! What a great feeling that is! Happy running and may your new week be off to a great start.

I get...Merrel shoes, I think. They're about $50, but they last a long time and they give really good support.

That is a huge non-scale victory!! Love it!

I actually won my shoes on a blog giveaway - they are Addidas and I love them, however, they retail for $150.

I have small feet so I can sometimes buy shoes in the boys department for about half the price of women's shoes - and they almost look the same!

I am actually about to invest in some new kicks myself. The best resource I have found has been from Runner's World. They have an explanation here of the types of shoes and how to tell what you need. Be sure to check on the shoe finder link. Find the shoe you need then search Amazon for it at a cheap price. Shoes are worth spending more if it gets you what you need. Good luck on the hunt!
