Almost there….

5 more days until my second weight in. I have seen some more changes in my body but not sure about what yet. I just know some of the clothes I wore like a glove fit me much better now. I know that I have a necklace I wouldn’t wear because it was just to tight and I was able to wear it to Mike’s Court of Honor and it didn’t bug me.

It is still a challenge to eat everything right. I am still drawn to chocolate after a meal. I still like my meat, skin and all. I won’t give up my breakfast cereal though have been watching the labels much more. I love milk and will drink at least 2 cups a day sometimes 3. But…..I have learned portion control. I eat one piece of candy (and not all the time sometimes I’m able to tell my stomach my brain in in charge), I eat my meat but a deck of cards size instead of a full steak. The chicken skin, well I’m still not great at that but I do now just eat the piece right on the top, not the full skin. Milk, well it’s good for a person and we are drinking 1% so that won’t change either. I know, sometime down the future I’ll look back and think, why’d I say I won’t change these thing. But for now with so much I am changing I need to keep a few things the same.

I went for a walk last night. I’m figuring about a mile in 20 minutes so not bad especially since I was in winter gear. I wore holes in both my socks because they slipped and slided around in my boots and I have a sore on the ankle where the tongue was but tonight I’m going again, adding about a 1/4 of a mile and a huge hill and will either still wear my boots but wear better socks and tie them tight or with luck it’ll be a bit warmer then something below zero but I won’t bet it tonight, maybe next week and I can wear my sneakers. Today is another day with Jillian level 2. My arms hurt so bad yesterday from Tuesday I didn’t do that work out today their better so will try it again.

So that’s my week so far. I’m learning, trying hard and making progress, just very slowly. I don’t know how some of you can loss 20 lbs a month or more but maybe your will power is better, maybe …well I don’t know. I’m figuring it’s a life style change and it won’t be quick but it will be forever. Something is better then nothing.

Take care all my inspirations, all my helpers, all my supporters. I so appreciate all the help you are giving me. Have a blessed day today!!

I totally understand about you not wanting to give up something. For instance, I have not given up bacon bits nor have I given up ketchup (I'm addicted to Heinz). I have kept them in my diet since April of 2009. I am very happy to say that this week I hit my milestone and have now lost 150 pounds. So, you can still have some of the things you love and still lose weight.

I do drink skim milk. I use it for my cereal. I use fat-free half & half for my coffee. I say try skim milk for just one week. One half gallon. If you don't like it, then go back to the 1%. I say the 1% is way better than the full blown milk. At school though, I use whole full blown milk in my coffee because I won't use skim or full blown half & half in it. I'm stubborn like that. LOL. Skim just never lightens it enough. But, I only drink one 20oz a day at school.

As far as the skin goes on chicken. Try and buy the skinless chicken breast cutlets to avoid temptation. Those are just empty calories. It is better to get your calories from 1oz of dark chocolate as a treat for yourself after dinner than the skin. See, it's like a compromise. You love chocolate and dark chocolate is healthy for you.

I hope you don't think I'm being preachy. I'm just giving my advice because I have the same temptations in my diet and I just want to suggest alternatives to you. Losing weight has been one of the hardest battles I've ever had to face. I have to say, I felt like I was freed from myself. Does that make sense?

This past week, I had two instances. One was a lady from Starbucks. I used to go there every other day and get a light Java Chip frappuchino. I haven't seen her since last year. I went in for a fresh brewed iced-tea. She looked at me funny. I said, "it's me, Jodi". She said "Oh my God, you lost a ton of weight girl because I didn't even recognize you". Second, my podiatrist (who handles my lymphedema in my lower legs) comes into the room and the first thing he said to me was, and I apologize for the word..but "Unfriggin Believeable". LOL! So, the rewards are plenty but I realized the first step is still not caring what people think. The first step is really loving yourself. My hand to God Julie...I still need to work on that. Even 150 pounds gone. I am still learning to love myself. No matter where your weight loss path takes you. Just remember to love yourself like Jesus loves you. You are beautiful in His eyes. God bless you my friend. Sorry I wrote so much yet again! LOL!
