Please help me, my health club is going to be offering Zumba March 1-31st from 5:30-6:45 Tuesdays and Thursdays, the cost will be $30.00. What I need to know is it worth it? Is it really as fun as I’ve read or would it be just as entertaining and good for me if I spent that $30.00 on the Zumba for my wii that comes with the belt that holds the remote? I know I can’t afford to do both so can you please help me figure this out, please?!
Day 3 of Allan’s challenge. I love getting the e-mails from you all telling about your day, asking for opinions, just sharing. Thank you so much. I have worked out Monday and Tuesday at the gym, did the exercises with the challenge and today I’m not going to do anything but take a walk. My body is tired. So far this week I have jogged/ran 10 miles, biked 15 miles, swam 26 laps and did the weigh circuit. Time to rest the muscles a little so I can head out tomorrow am and start again. I did step on the scale this morning and it isn’t budging, not a lick. Retaining some water? Getting close to that TOM? Not pooping enough? Don’t know but I have noticed since being with Allan that for 2 weeks of the month the scale sticks and for 2 weeks of the month it moves. It’s only Wednesday so we’ll see.
It’s only -15 this morning and little wind, I can handle that. AND…they say next week it’s going to warm up into the 30’s, I sure can take that. I am so tired of doing chores in the cold, having frozen water all the time, carrying the wood and keeping the fire going. Oh it’s not like it’s terrible hard, just terrible yucky this time of year.
Well I’m off, kids are due shortly. Take care my friends and keep up the great work. A life style change isn’t easy but it’s worth it. May 2011 be the year that you become the healthiest you possible. God bless you all!!!

Thanks for the blessings, Julie. Try to stay warm and cozy. You are doing great. :)
Oh Julie.. I remember doing those chores before school on those dark cold winter mornings. (grew up on a farm in Nebraska).. you have a much better attitude about it than I did... LOL
I haven't done Zumba.. either classes or WII.. So I don't have any advice there...
have a good day!
Sorry, I am Zumba illiterate. Look forward to hearing how you like it; many a blogger speak well of it. Yes, rest, rest those muscles between sessions of pumping them up.
I would go with which one you think you'll actually 'do' more...does attending a class motivate you more or would you do it more at home? Right now, I am doing mine on the Wii--mostly because I doubt I could keep up with a class yet- the workout is INTENSE to say the least. Is there a place you can rent the Wii Zumba and try it or can you sit in and observe a class? Maybe that would help you decide?
Zumba is everywhere! All I know is that I have heard nothing but positive things about it, so you should enjoy it.
My sister says that Zumba is the most effective and most fun workout you will ever do - she keeps trying to get me into a class!!
Okay, first, I'm a Zumba whore, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
B. I found that after taking the class I understood the moves better than when I did the videos. I enjoyed being with others and felt more driven to do the whole class, rather than flaking off halfway through because I knew no one was watching.
Zumba is fun!! But I am latin so these moves and music is 2nd nature to me. However, if you go on youtube and search Zumba you'll get to see some real classes. View some videos and see if it is something you'd like to do. It really is an intense workout w/o really feeling it. Its fun and time goes fast...so do those calories!
Love Zumba, only have done the videos but a really fun hour!
I took my first Zumba class last Thursday.
It is quite the workout.
I had trouble keeping up at first, but I was told that the more you go the more you learn the routines and it gets easier. I also don't have a lot of coordination, so I was clumsy.
That said, it was a lot of fun and I want to do it again.
I looked at getting the game, but I read some reviews that made me decide to wait on the game until I can try it out somewhere. I read it wasn't that good.
I say go to the class. Just leave your pride at the door because you will fell silly at first! (I also think going to the class would keep you more motivated than playing the game - you would totally feel bad if you missed a class and lost your money, than if you skipped a da playing the game - you know what I mean?)
I'm no darn help, but I wish I were!
I know nothing about Zumba, but if it gets you in from that cold, than I say it's worth it.
I've heard from a few folks that the Zumba for Wii isn't that great. Besides, if you spend the money on a Zumba class, you have very little choice but to really Zumba, while if you get the game, you might stop after just a few minutes and never look at it again.
I'd say try the class; I've heard they're really fun and make you sweat!
You swam, you biked, you ran- YOU'RE AWWWWESOME! I am impressed. :)
I've never tried zumba - I have no sense of coordination and feel I would embarrass myself - but I've seen it and it looks fun!
I am amazed at how much exercise you have gotten in already this week. Glad you are resting up a little. I have never tried Zumba, but know a ton of people that adore it. I would say try it.
Thanks so much for all your comments on my recent blog posts. You are SOOOOO encouraging. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, Julie.
I, too, am glad we will "warm" up a little I did go skating tonight with two of the kids. Toasty at -3!
Wow, Julie, You should be so proud of yourself for all the exercise you're getting! Even though you hurt all over, don't you find that you can think clearer and stress goes bye-bye?
Am having the hardest time convincing myself to join you in walking! Fear of commitment and failure. And yet I sit at the computer %#&%@ a day!!
btw, I've heard zumba classes are great! Go for it!
