Burnt to a cinder…and honesty…

Took the kids mini golfing, swimming, a picnic and then tonight canoeing with Mike. A full day in the sun on top of canoeing last evening in the sun too. Exercise is great, the sun is great, the kids were slathered in sun screen, I didn’t think of myself. DUMB!!! I have my own heater wrapped around my head right now. I think if you put a thermometer on my skin it would say….BURNT!!! Oh well, some cream and cold cloth and tomorrow it’ll be better.

Eating has not been spot on. Not terrible mind you but not great. When you spend as much time outside as possible there is no extra time for cooking. I still have daycare 10-12 hours a day so of course am cooking 3 meals a day for them and snacks but to plan ahead from me, well it isn’t happening. I know lots of people are busy beyond belief and are able to plan ahead, stick with a plan, be good, strong willed and able….me, well I’m still learning and working on it.

I have decided that fall, winter and spring are so much easier then summer and I really thought it would be the opposite. I thought busy would make it easier but that’s not true.

I read a post just a little bit ago from Laryssa about why we blog, why we tell the truth about our ups and downs and she is so right.

Honesty is the best policy. Well honestly I’m trying but not as hard as I could be. Honestly I need to exercise like I did when I was at the gym. Honestly I can do this, to keep this weight off, to lose the last few pounds, to tone up all that still left hanging around. Honestly it’s just time to really try harder. Will I, honestly?….only time will tell.

I have been terrible at reading, commenting and even just visiting you all and you still take the time to come here. THANK YOU!!! I promise I’ll find some time to visit and check in and support you, I will!!

Take care my friends and have a blessed nights rest.

Use vinegar on your burn. It will relieve some of the heat. Hope you are better soon. I know how awful burns can be and then I usually get sun poisoning which is poison ivy times 10. Take care.

I accidentally got a bit of a burn too. Fair skin & red hair... I'm doomed every time. You would think I would've learned by now, lol. Hope yours feels better soon. :)

Oh no... get some Aloe Vera for that burn! Sounds like you are full of great activities! I'm glad you are so honest, I really love reading your blog. It's all about keeping it real.

so sorry about your burn. Hope the cream helps!

I appreciate your honesty.. and I am getting back to that as well. I have not been so great in that department, but it's time to be accountable again! ((HUGS)) You can do this! You are so close to your goal.. just keep on keeping on!

Sunburns ... I remember those. Don't get them much anymore because I haven't been able to be out in the sun so far this summer. We have plans to go fishing a lot in the next few weeks ... gotta remember the sunscreen. :)

Being honest really is the best policy! It can help us out of a funk and back to where we need to go. I hope my blog post helped you refocus. :) I know it helped me.

I'm still sticking to plan but have not been getting around to everyone's blogs. We've been too busy. Things are slowing down now though!

Carry that sunscreen with you everywhere! And use it- on you!

Ouch, I burned the tops of my thighs a few weeks back, it was miserable!

I totally agree that summer is harder, all I want to do is dive into a big giant frozen dessert and not come out until October.

Lady, you're busy! It's a matter of just finding the strategy that works for summer. Somehow, when you prepare those meals you HAVE TO for others, you find a way to make your meals at that time, too. It may take some creative planning, but you gotta. For your health. Summer will be over soon enough and things will normalize. Until then, just hang in and be creative.

Summer is tough on a lot of us. We are out and about, we're tempted by parties, we're feeling "freer" physically which can translate into freer in other ways.

But we just gotta hang on and find the strategies that get us through. You'll do it!

I know how busy it can get with day care. All we can really ask of ourselves is that we do the best we can. Hang in there and have a great weekend. :)

Hope the burn gets better.....I've had some bad ones in the past and try not to these days....also i just can't tolerate the heat anymore and we are having 100+ degree days. A dermatologist on TV the other night recommended puting Aloe Vera gel in the ref and then putting it on sunburns.

Honesty is best! I have had a tougher week than usual, too... summer... fun.... who wants to think about food? We can still make healthy choices, just have to keep practicing! :) Enjoy the summer sun and fun!!

HI, Julie,
Sorry to hear about that sunburn. Several members of my family have already had a bout with skin cancer. Yes, apply skin screen, but, not just when you are outside. Make it a habit of putting it on your face (especially nose, chin lines and by your ears~all places where there is a high prevalence of skin cancer. I wear 50 (and only those made for kids) everyday on my nose. It is like brushing my teeth...

Despite not eating spot on, you are doing well. I know you are. The fact that you are. Maybe try to make a few snacks for YOU at a time when you are less busy, so you can reach and grab.

Take care and have a great weekend!michele
